Exploring Dumbo: 3 Must Sees

What do bloggers do when they go to Brooklyn…

If you’re visiting NYC, you must visit DUMBO in Brooklyn. DUMBO is short for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass and this is honestly one of my favorite parts of Brooklyn, I always love venturing here (check my other post feat. my adventure with Nala – ps; there’s a dog park). Plus, there is a ton of opportunities for photos!

1) Jane’s Carousel

No matter how many times I visited this area, I never got to go on Jane’s Carousel! This was actually something that I wanted to do for a long time and when I met up with Nataliya and Suzanne in Dumbo this past weekend, I was SO happy to finally be able to experience it! FYI – the girls LOVED it! It costs $2 to ride and you will be surrounded by little kids, but totally a cute + fun experience.

2) YO/OY sign

Depending on the direction in which you look at this sign, it can read ‘YO’ when facing Brooklyn or ‘OY’ when facing Manhattan. This area is usually filled with people trying to snap cute photos of it so either be patient or go early! BTW, the dog park is right around this sign in case you bring your pup!

If you continue past the sign, you will find Brooklyn Flea on Sunday’s under the bridge or visit Washington Street for the iconic photo view of Manhattan Bridge through the street.

3) Pebble Beach

This whole area is wrapped around the water, so you will have great sights of Manhattan no matter where you are. Over by the East River ferry there are some cute restaurants where you can grab some quintessential NYC eats like Shake Shack, Luke’s Lobster, Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, and Grimaldi’s Pizza (which ALWAYS has a huge line).

Take the East River Ferry back to NYC or other parts of Brooklyn (like Williamsburg). If you continue walking past the ferry, there is a whole walkway that continues through Brooklyn Bridge Park and will run along Brookyln Heights (another fave area). The streets are so beautiful over there and you can walk down any of them to find more cute restaurants.

I just LOVE wearing dresses in the summertime! This dress I have actually had for a few years and it is my staple every summer because of how soft it is (I even have it in a few different colors and styles)! I styled a short sleeve crop top over it to create some depth and so the lace back can still show through. Urban Outfitters does these dresses SO well and even looking through the site now I see so many dresses I want (don’t worry, I tagged them below):

I can’t say how much I love backpacks enough. Especially if you are exploring NYC- a backpack is so necessary because you can use both your hands for all your activities AND still carry everything you need. I picked out some of my fave tassel backpacks for you to shop below:

  1. This was so much fun!!! I haven’t visited DUMBO in a while, and it’s so built up now! I loved taking the ferry after our little excursion too. 🙂 It’s such a nice way to cap off a hot day in Brooklyn!
