We all know that the summer in New York City can be brutal and sometimes it can be confusing on how to dress. The struggle really comes in for those really hot days, yet whenever you step inside a subway car or a store, it is freezing! For these scorchers (which we’ve been having quite a few of lately), I usually resort to a light dress or romper and carry a layer to throw on when I’m in the train.

The light jacket not only provides some warmth, but it also pulls together the full look. It’s important to keep the jacket relatively small so you can carry it around when you’re not wearing it, or a keep a bag big enough to stuff it in. I tried to keep all the tones in brown or beige, and this jacket fits in so perfectly!

I paired this look with my new sunnies that I picked up the other day in an unnamed store in the East Village. They are just the right amount of oversized and I love the slight hint of the black and brown marble print. This choker necklace is DIY using a ribbon and wrapping it around my neck twice and tieing it in the front. TIP; if you can’t get the ribbon to lay the way you want, use a straightening iron to shape it!

I tagged a ton of similar items above since the pieces I’m wearing are mostly unavailable now. Shop more below to get a similar look:
