Shopping Home Decor: Office

In honor of me moving tomorrow (AH!) I decided to do a home decor post, and maybe start a home decor category! This is pretty exciting to me because I have lived in my current apartment for FOUR YEARS, so cray. [cue flashbacks of old neighborhood]

Since I’ve been seeing so much inspiration everywhere, I wanted to showcase what MY ideas are for decorating. I know re-furnishing/decorating can be pretty overwhelming for some (eh hem, ME) so hopefully this helps to understand the thought process behind decorating, including how to pair budget-friendly with splurge-worthy pieces, based on your personal preference. Enjoy…

MY OFFICE is the first thing I will be working on and the thing I am most excited about. I’ve never had a home office before and I think this will be extremely useful since I spend SO much time working while I’m home. I really want this space to feel cozy and comfortable, yet functional and inspirational to keep the creative juices flowing.

To accomplish this, I am looking for a basic, inexpensive desk and am willing to splurge on a statement chair. I also want to keep the desk accessories very simple and have a semi-statement, functional desk lamp.

Some of my go-to places that I am shopping are:
West Elm | Pier 1 Imports | Crate & Barrel | WayFair | ABC Carpet & Home | Ikea

Lastly, I want to decorate my new place with some really home-y art. Specifically for the office, I am looking for something to hang either directly above the desk or around the office. The key (for me) when selecting the perfect piece of art is to correlate the colors of the art piece to the colors of the room and furniture. I personally love pastels and am thinking of having sort of a pastel look to the space.

My favorite place to shop for really unique art pieces is on Etsy. Not only are they one-of-a-kind, but it directly supports independent artists. I am LOVING the amazing paintings especially. See all of my favorites from Etsy HERE.

Hope you loved this sneak peak into my new home office designs! Leave a comment below and let me know any suggestions of good places to shop or which room you want me to share next!
