Swimsuit Season {shopping guide}

OK swimsuit season is coming up, and I will be the first person to tell you that I really don’t wear swimsuits that often. I really don’t take vacations (and on the rare occasion I do- it’s not a beach getaway) and now that I’ve been living in NYC for about 7 years, getting to the beach is not as easy as it used to be (versus where I used to be: Long Island). That being said, I really haven’t bought a new swimsuit in SO long. Lately, I’ve been getting the itch for a new one, I’m not sure what it is- but I’ve been seeing some REALLY cute pieces out there as of lately.

If you’re looking to pick up a few cute styles for less, I recommend ASOS and Forever 21. From my experience, there are a mainly two different styles that are good for different reasons:

the TANNING suit versus the SWIMMING suit

The swimming suit can actually be very different from the tanning suit, for instance my tanning suit has always been strapless to minimize tan lines (LIKE THIS – obsessed), however when it came time to actually jumping in the water, the top would always slide down from the pressure of the waves. no bueno. However, the swimming suit also depends on where you will be swimming (pool vs. ocean). For INDOOR pools (like at a hotel where hardly anyone will be around anyway) you can wear a fun one-piece LIKE THIS or THIS. I personally love one-pieces and think they can still be super sexy for the beach, too (HELLO THIS ONE!). Of course – you can always go for a bikini which can work for both, swimming AND tanning (LIKE THIS – amazing color obvs).
